CHILDREN'S BOOK ILLUSTRATOR
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
I have been working on helping people that write their own children's stories bring them to reality through my work.
I offer packages that include several steps along this process so they can publish their books easily.
It starts by meeting and getting to know you well so I can get an idea of your vision for your book. I will read the story first to make sure it is ready for publishing. At times, I have suggested the use of a good editor to really make sure your is good to publish (I can suggest editors, if you have not used one yet).
This is what happens once the story is ready:
- With the story in my hands I elaborate an outline of how the story will be broken to illustrate each section.
- A dummy of the book will be created to know the amount of pages required from cover to cover and where each illustration goes together with corresponding text.
- Once approved I start illustrating line art in black and white.
- After approval of these comes the most fun part, bringing life to all through color. I will present a couple illustrations with color before moving on to finish all of them.
- With all illustrations finished, I will lay the out in their respective pages, with their accompanying text.
- The last part will be to design and lay out any other pages needed, and most important, the front and back cover, which might require me to go back to illustrate.
The Publishing Part
Dealing with technology can be complicated. I know!
Do NOT worry! We will have a chance to discuss the variety of self publishing options out there. Most people just decide to use Amazon's KDP to do so.
I will be there to help with any questions and to support you through the process of uploading finals for the book.
Once we have all set up we will order a draft to make sure all is good to go.
If anything, we can make final last edits to make sure we are all satisfied!!!
